The Acer shirasawanum 'Moonrise' on a stem is one of the many varieties of Japanese maple. This Japanese maple grows on a stem. This Japanese maple has beautiful colours which will brighten up your garden. In the spring, the Acer gets orange leaves with a special shape. During the summer, the leaves turn bright yellow and in the autumn they change to red-orange. This mixture of colours makes it a special plant to see and a nice addition to your garden.

Care
The Moonrise is a slow grower with a narrow upright growing direction that keeps the plant compact. This allows you to grow this tree in a pot or in a smaller garden. Japanese Maples can best be planted from March to the beginning of November. In this period the soil is warmer and the plants can easily root. Japanese maples are strong plants but in a windy location the leaves can easily get damaged. Therefore, put the Acer in a sheltered place. The plant prefers a spot in the semi-shade, preferably with not too much direct sunlight. Too much direct sunlight can cause the roots and leaves to dry out, which can lead to leaf damage. A Japanese Maple is not evergreen, which means that it loses its leaves during the winter. However, this plant is very hardy and will sprout again in March with beautiful new leaves.
