The large-flowered, Dinnerplate dahlia 'Bristol Stripe' is a beautiful summer bloomer that steals the show in the garden for months. In fact, it flowers from July until the first night frost. The dahlia can grow up to 90-110 cm high and combines well with perennials and other dahlia types. The beautiful white/pink flowers with dark pink stripes will be real eye-catchers in your border. Dahlia 'Bristol Stripe’ is also very suitable as a cut flower and long-lasting in a vase, making this plant especially versatile. The best time to cut dahlias is early in the day. Place the stems directly in lukewarm water with cut flower food and you can also enjoy the beautiful flowers indoors. Dahlia bulbs can be planted from March to May.
Care
Dahlia bulbs can be planted in spring, but beware of late night frosts. The plants are sensitive to frost. Dig a generous planting hole, loosen the soil and fill the planting hole with good potting soil. Carefully place the tubers in the planting hole and cover with 3-5 cm. of soil. The planting distance of the tubers of dahlia 'Bristol Stripe' is 30-60 cm. After planting, water the tubers immediately. dahlias flower most abundantly in full sun. After flowering, store the tubers in a frost-free place and you will enjoy them for years. As the plants can grow quite tall, it is sometimes necessary to support the flower stems.
