Caladium Carolyn Whorton

The Caladium is a tropical plant native to the jungles of Central and South America. It is a plant that grows from a tuber and is naturally a seasonal plant. Normally the plant goes into hibernation, but the plant as we now offer it is in bloom all year round!

Location

The Caladium is best placed in a place where there is a lot of indirect sunlight. In this way, the plant receives sufficient light. Too much light would severely damage the plant and cause the plants to burn.

Temperature

The Caladium likes a room temperature above 15 degrees. This means that the plant can only be left outside in the summer months. Make sure that if the plant is outside that it is not in direct sunlight too much.

Watering

The Caladium needs water once every 2 weeks in the summer months. It is important to keep a close eye on the soil to see if it remains moist enough. If the plant does not get enough water, the leaves will droop.

Nutrition

The Caladium only needs feeding every month in the spring and summer months. This way the plant can continue to grow healthily.

Repotting 

The plant needs a somewhat larger pot that leaves enough room for the roots to grow for a few more years.

Poisonous?

Be careful with children and pets, the Caladium is poisonous. It is therefore advised to keep the plant within reach of children and animals. It is best to place the plant in a somewhat higher place.
