Scaly males sail
The Dryopteris affinis or Scaly male fern is family of the Aspidiaceae. The leaves are green and about 100 cm. high. The adult height of this perennial plant is approx. 100 cm. Tolerates a temperature up to -20 gr. C. and remains green throughout the winter. The recommended planting distance is 45 cm. (3-5 pcs per m2.) Is well available.
This plant is very suitable for gardens with several (almost) mature trees and shrubs. Requires a place in the semi-shade and a humus-rich soil with few tree roots in its vicinity. Direct sunlight on the blade can cause problems. So make sure you have filtered light by placing it in the shade of trees or shrubs, but not too close. This plant can easily be combined with 'forest edge plants' on a moist soil. Does not proliferate or hardly and can easily be combined with other plants.
