These beautiful blue-gray grass balls are one of the most popular grasses. Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue' is also known as Blue Fescue. It is a very stylish garden plant and an excellent evergreen ground cover. Plants 'Elijah Blue' look like little pillows in the garden. These beautiful round shapes consist of very fine, intense ice blue leaves that turn greener in winter. From late spring to summer, the plant grows narrow, blue-green flower panicles that turn golden brown.
Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue' can withstand drought well and has beautiful color all year round. This plant retains its color even in winter and is hardy to -22 degrees Celsius. Pruning is limited to removing the old leaves once or twice a year. Planting can be done from spring (March) until autumn. When the Festuca is planted as a ground cover, a planting distance of 20 cm between plants is recommended. Plant the grass in any moderately fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue' does best as a colorful solitary, but also does well in groups as a ground cover or in a pot on the balcony or patio.
The plants have a height of 10 to 15cm on delivery (measured incl. pot). The plants are delivered in pots with a diameter of 9cm.
