Plants have become an integral part of the interior. They bring a lot of atmosphere and personality. At florastore, we often say the more plants the better.
5 Tips to give your houseplants the best care.

No matter how hard we try, sometimes we just can't keep all these green friends alive. That is why we have collected 5 tips for you that ensure that you can provide your plants with the best possible care there is.

Tip 1: Provide a clean sheet.

Unfortunately, dust is everywhere and therefore also on the leaves of your plant, so the plant cannot breathe optimally. It is therefore important to keep the leaves clean. This is best done with a slightly damp microfibre cloth, a damp paper towel also works. Take your time and clean each leaf, see it as a moment of rest and enjoy it.

Tip 2: Spray regularly.

We already knew that plants love water, but did you also know that it is important to water the leaves of the plant? This is best done by putting a little water in a plant sprayer and spraying the leaves from a distance. This way all the leaves get some water. This tip does not apply to succulents, these often come from dry areas and are not that thirsty ;)

Tip 3: Provide good potting soil.

Do you want to enjoy your plants for longer? Then invest in good potting soil. The plant gets its nutrients from this potting soil. Also make sure that you choose the right potting soil for your plant. Use cactus soil for a succulent plant and a cactus and potting soil for all other indoor plants.

Tip 4: Stick to a schedule.

Too much or too little water? Sometimes I don't even like it anymore. Unfortunately, this is the most common reason that plants die. A schedule can help you with this. Write down when and how much water you give. Always check the potting soil before you enthusiastically get started with the plant sprayer. If the potting soil is still moist, you do not need to water the plant. Do you want to know more about your houseplant? Take a look at our plant guide.

Tip 5: Buy a pot with a drainage hole at the bottom.

To ensure that your plants no longer get wet feet, you can buy pots with a drainage hole. This opening allows the excess water to drain out of the pot. This prevents too much water from remaining in the pot and the roots from rotting. Make sure that you always place a saucer under the pot so that the excess water is collected.
