About the plant
The Acer palmatum 'Going Green' is a Japanese maple with fresh green leaves and yellow-orange autumn colours. The bright green colored twigs of this species are very attractive, especially in winter. It is a very strong plant that can easily reach 200 cm or higher. Pruning is not a problem, but do so in late summer or early autumn. This Maple species prefers not to be in full sun.
Care
Japanese Maples are best planted from March to early October. During this period, the soil is warmer and the plants can take root well. In a planter, this plant does not require special potting soil. Japanese Maples are strong plants, but in a windy place the leaves can be damaged. Therefore, place the Acer in a sheltered place. The plant prefers a spot in partial shade, preferably not too much direct sunlight. Too much direct sunlight can dry out the roots, which can lead to leaf loss and burn the leaves. A Japanese Maple is not evergreen, which means that it loses its leaves in winter. However, the plant is very hardy and will sprout again from March with beautiful new leaves.
