About the plant
The beautiful Acer Orange Dream has a spherical habit with deeply incised leaves. This maple actually colors all year round, in the spring the fiery red to red-pink leaves, towards the summer the leaf changes to blue-green with red veins and in the autumn the maple changes color again to its red color. This maple is also very suitable for a compact garden because it is a slow grower. If the maple grows too large, prune it back in March.
Japanese maples are best planted from March to early October. During this period, the soil is warm and the plants can take root well. This plant does not need special potting soil in a planter. Japanese maples are strong plants, but in a windy location can damage the leaves. So put the Acer in a sheltered place. The plant prefers a spot in partial shade, preferably not too much direct sunlight. Too much direct sunlight can cause the roots to dry out, which can lead to leaf loss and scorch. A Japanese maple is not evergreen, meaning it loses its foliage in winter. However, the plant is very hardy to -20°C and will sprout again in March with beautiful new leaves.
