Phoenix Canariensis
Light requirement: indirect light to partial shade
Origin and care
The Phoenix Canariensis originates from the Far East (Indochina). It is a strong palm, and is also called the dwarf date palm. However, this palm is grown worldwide as an ornamental plant.
This Phoenix likes to be indoors but can just as easily be placed on the terrace in summer. Be careful, do not place in direct sun, rather a little shade.
Preferably not at home with the central heating at home, it cannot withstand dry air very well. Regular misting is something the plant really appreciates.
Add plant food to the irrigation water once every two weeks. In warm weather above 25 degrees Celsius, you can water the Phoenix palm a bit more, this to prevent dehydration. The plant grows best at a temperature from 18 degrees Celsius.
