The Salix 'Flamingo', better known in the Netherlands as the variegated willow, is originally from Japan. This hardy willow steals the show in the spring with its red flowers in the shape of catkins. The leaves are an explosion of color with pink, green and white. When the Salix drops its leaves in the fall, it still remains a special sight thanks to its orange branches!
The Salix 'Flamingo' grows to a maximum height of 3 meters and is therefore the perfect tree for small gardens. The plant is hardy to -15C degrees Celsius.
Care
The Salix 'Flamingo' prefers a light sunny position in well-drained soil. It is best to prune the Salix back in March each year to maintain a compact, full bush. In addition, the new leaves turn a nice pink color again.
