The Yucca Elephantipes is a giant palm tree and finds its origin in Central America. This palm species is frequently cultivated in larger nurseries deep in the rain forests. The Yucca is given the name Elephantipes by its heavy rootstock that is reminiscent of elephant legs. The leaves of the Yucca Elephantipes are thick with a sharp, finely serrated edge. The "wood" is imported directly from Costa Rica and grown to full-grown palms in our warm greenhouse. In Central America, these palms are mainly used as a wide fence around coffee plantations. They also provide shade for the coffee plants.

Care
The plant does not like a lot of water. Watering once every two weeks is more than enough. Especially during the winter, it is important to let the soil dry before the plant gets more water. A few weeks without water is no problem. Do not forget that in the spring and summer the Yucca does need a little more water, especially during hot days. A Yucca likes to be placed in a sunny spot. The leaves stay nice and hard with sufficient sunlight. In summer the plant can also be placed outside, but it is important that you avoid the afternoon sun. The Yucca is happy with at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day, so place the plant in front of the window.

Plant height
Upon delivery, the plant has a height of 160 to 170cm (measured pot included). The plant is delivered in a pot with a diameter of 27cm.
