The Yucca Elephantipes is a sturdy indoor palm which has its origins in Central America. Here, this palm species is frequently cultivated in large nurseries deep in the rain forests. The Yucca gets its name from its heavy root-stock, reminiscent of elephant feet. The leaf of the Yucca Elephantipes is thick and fleshy with a sharp, finely serrated edge. The lower leaves of Yucca will naturally die back as the plant grows. These should be carefully removed, to maintain a tidy appearance.
Care
The Yucca is one of the easiest houseplants available, since the plant does not need a lot of water. Watering the plant once every fortnight is more than enough. It is very important that no water remains at the bottom of the pot, otherwise the roots will rot. The Yucca prefers a light spot, but be careful not to place it in direct sunlight. Direct sunlight will cause discolouration of the leaves. Once every 2-3 months, the Yucca needs sufficient nutrition to ensure that its leaves stay nice and green. Please note the plant is poisonous to both humans and animals!
Plant height
Upon delivery, the plants have a height of 50 to 60cm (measured pot included). The plants are delivered in pots with a diameter of 14cm.
