Origin 

The Yucca is mainly found in Guatemala and Honduras.

The Yukka likes to be in a light spot (no direct sun), but half shade is also possible. In the summer a spot on the terrace is not a problem, but beware of temperatures below 8 degrees. Avoid outside or the midday sun.

In de groeiperiode van april tot augustus eens in de twee weken bijmesten. Vooral in de winter niet teveel water geven. In de groeiperiode iets meer water dan in de winter.

Hou de grond liever iets droger. De plant mag niet met haar voeten in het water blijven staan. De bladeren van de Yucca af en toe met een vochtige doek afnemen. 

Sproeien

Droge lucht is voor de Yucca kamerplant geen probleem, sproeien is dus niet direct noodzakelijk. Echter een enkele keer sproeien of zomers een keer in de regen zorgt ervoor dat het stof wordt verwijderd.

Voeding

Omdat de Yucca weinig voeding nodig heeft is bemesten alleen raadzaam in het de lente en zomers. 's-winters geen voeding! Teveel voeding kan leiden tot verbrande wortels. Gebruik hiervoor Pokon groene plantenvoeding.

Snoeien

The yucca will keep producing new leaves from the heart. The lower leaves may die (natural process) and you can remove them by pulling them down. 

Diseases

Check the Yuca regularly for diseases. Look under and between the leaf, the sooner you notice the disease, the greater the chance of effective control.

Bloom

A yucca can flower outside. The flowers are spectacular to see, when a yucca starts to bloom in the house it is advisable to remove the flower. This flower takes a lot of energy from the plant.

Repotting

It is advisable to transfer the Yuka into a larger pot immediately after purchase. Preferably do this in the spring so that any damaged roots can recover quickly "in this growth period".
