The Citrus Calamondin mini-orange is a beautiful ornamental tree that looks like a mandarin with a wonderfully sweet-scented white blossom that is abundant in spring. This Citrus Calamondin is a crossing between the Mandarin and the Citrus Kumquat. This citrus tree grows small round, orange fruits that are approximately 4 cm in diameter. In Latin countries the fruits of this symmetrical, compact plant are known as ‘agri-dulce’ (Sweet and Sour) since the small, juicy orange fruits of the Calamondin have a bitter taste at first before leaving a delicious sweet flavour in your mouth. The Calamondin can be eaten as fruit but is more often used in various dishes and liqueurs. This wonderfully scented plant can perfectly serve as a houseplant.

Gli agrumi preferiscono una posizione luminosa, soleggiata, acqua moderata e concimazione regolare. Potrebbe volerci un anno prima che i frutti maturino, ma vale la pena aspettare. Per quanto riguarda la posizione, metti le piante all'aperto in pieno sole da metà marzo a ottobre, ma lascia che si abituino facilmente al sole nelle prime settimane a causa della bruciatura delle foglie. Poiché il Calamondin non è resistente, in inverno dovrebbe essere collocato in casa. Ridurre l'irrigazione in inverno, ma non lasciare seccare completamente la pianta.
