More information

Ficus Ginseng grows in the beautiful south of China and Malaysia. Ginseng is the Chinese word for 'root', which refers to the plant's trunk. It takes years for this roots to form. Then the small-leaved ficus is grafted onto the rootstock. With a lot of patience, the plant is pruned to create the bonsai-like shape. Ficus belongs to the mulberry family (Moraceae) and is one of the most popular Bonsai species for beginners.

Care
Ficus Ginseng (also called Ficus Microcarpa Ginseng) requires a light location without bright sun. The lighter the plant stands, the more water it needs. So water regularly, never let the pot ball dry out. The plant can also stand outside for a while in summer, provided the temperature does not go below 12-15 degrees Celsius. Yellow, brown or ugly leaves can be removed. Should you wish to prune the plant, this is best done in the fall. To give the plant some extra vitality, it can be fed with Bonsai food. Note: In the beginning the Bonsai may lose leaves, this is not harmful. The plant needs some time to 'get used' to its new place, so do not move it too often. New leaves will grow naturally. Always provide sufficient light and water in the beginning.

Size
The plant has a height of 55-65cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plant is supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 20cm.
