More information

Lonicera Kamtschatica, also known as 'honeyberry', is an ornamental fruit-bearing shrub that grows up to 1.5 meters tall. This plant is native to northeast Asia and Siberia and is still relatively unknown in the Netherlands. The fruits of the Lonicera are dark blue in color and are somewhat larger than an average berry. The fruits look a bit like blueberries. As the name honeyberry gives away, the taste is deliciously sweet. It is also a very healthy berry: they contain a lot of vitamins B and C. The berries are suitable for incorporating into a dish or eating freshly picked. Because the berries are fragile therefore difficult to transport, the fruits are almost exclusively used for home consumption and they are rarely found on the market. Grow your own honeyberry in the garden and enjoy these special berries!

Care
The honeyberry is self-pollinating, bumblebees take care of pollination. When there are several honeysuckle plants together it gives an even better harvest. The plant flowers early: in March and April with small white, lightly fragrant flowers. In May, the flowers are followed by the blue fruits. Lonicera Kamtschatica is very hardy and relatively easy to maintain. The plant likes a spot in semi-shade or full sun and needs plenty of water. Prune the plant only in the first few years after harvest. The honeyberry is attractive to bees and butterflies. Birds also love the honeyberry, so temporarily covering it with a net or foil is recommended.

Size
The plants have a height of 25-40cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plants are supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 9cm.
