In this ornamental grass package you will receive a beautiful mix of 3 different ornamental grasses. The different colors of these grasses contrast beautifully with each other and will add color to your garden year round. You will receive the following species: Stipa 'Ponytail', Festuca 'Elijah Blue' and Carex Bronco.
Stipa 'Ponytail'
Stipa tenuissima, or Spanish grass or Ponytail, is a fully hardy, beautiful grass with very fine leaves. It has a rich inflorescence of very fine flower stalks up to about 50 cm high, which wave beautifully in the wind. Stipa grows beautiful light yellow-green leaves covered with downy panicles of silver-green flowers, growing to blonde yellow. This versatile grass is ideal for a sunny garden, large ornamental pot or perennial border. Prune the plant back in spring to about 20cm above the ground. This ornamental grass is evergreen and can withstand temperatures down to -15 degrees.
Festuca 'Elijah Blue'
These beautiful blue-gray grasses are one of the most popular grasses. Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue' is also known as Blue Fescue. It is a very stylish garden plant and an excellent evergreen ground cover. Plants 'Elijah Blue' look like little pillows in the garden. These beautiful round shapes consist of very fine, intense ice blue leaves that turn greener in winter. From late spring to summer, the plant grows narrow, blue-green flower panicles that turn golden brown. The Festuca likes a sunny spot. This ornamental grass is evergreen and hardy to -22 degrees. Prune the plant twice a year.
Carex Bronco
Carex Bronco, also known as sedge, is a low-growing ornamental grass that grows about 40cm tall. The plant has long leaves that are bronze/reddish-brown in color. The plant retains this color throughout the year. The Carex Bronco has a beautiful, graceful growth habit which makes it not only beautiful in the open ground, but also well suited for a flower pot on the balcony. In May and June, this plant blooms with beautiful bronze flower panicles. The Carex Bronco is a strong garden that is moderately hardy. This ornamental grass prefers a moist soil in sun or partial shade.
