A multifunctional plant!

The Areca palm   is a highly air-purifying plant that is easy to care for. The Areca is suitable as a houseplant in homes and offices. This plant is available from us in a wide range of large pot sizes and heights.

Origin

Dypsis Lutescens is the Latin name for Areca. In the Netherlands it is also called gold palm. It belongs to the family Arecaceae (palm trees). The Areca is originally from Madagascar. Today, the Areca is found in many tropical and subtropical areas around the world and is a very popular houseplant. The Areca is grown from seed in South America and transported to the Netherlands as a young plant by sea freight.

Types

There is only one type of Areca palm. The plant is available in different pot sizes and heights from 1.10 to 2.20 metres. The Air So Pure Areca is one of the faster growing varieties and consists of a number of reed-like stems with light green pinnate leaves. The plant is characterized by its long shelf life and narrow, pointed leaves.

Location

Areca palm likes a light position, but not direct sunlight. The Gold Palm should also not be in draft.

Care

The ideal temperature for an Air So Pure Areca palm is between 18 and 24 °C. Strong temperature changes are not appreciated by the Areca. Preferably water twice a week, in winter once a week is sufficient. The root ball should always be moist. For a healthy plant, it is recommended to add some plant food to the irrigation water once a month.

The young leaves of the Air So Pure Areca rise vertically from the growing point in the shape of a spear. The Areca develops a single trunk with one growing point. At the end of the trunk is the growing point, which is protected by the formed leaves. Brown old leaves can be cut off.

The Areca palm is a strong air-purifying plant.
