The Bougainvillea is a beautiful, showy climbing plant with colorful papery bracts. What could be better than growing the Bougainvillea in front of a brown wall to make the colors stand out even more? With its purple color, it is a plant that gives a real summer feeling. Originally the Bougainvillea comes from Brazil, but it is also very well known in southern Europe, so it is a real Mediterranean plant. To maintain its beautiful colors, the plant needs a lot of sunlight. The more sunlight it gets on its leaves, the brighter the colors will become.
Care
The Bougainvillea needs sunny weather to bloom beautifully. However, if the plant is in full sun, water it sufficiently during the hot summer months, even every day during the hottest period. Always make sure that the water can drain away through holes in the bottom of the pot, as the plant does not like wet feet. In full soil, of course, this is not necessary, but the disadvantage of this is that it is difficult to bring the plant inside during the winter. This is in fact necessary to guarantee flowering again next year, since the Bougainvillea is not hardy.
