The Calathea Orbifolia, also known as the Peacock Plant, is native to the rainforest of South America. This beautiful plant is currently 1 of the most popular houseplants and is an eye-catcher in any interior! A striking feature of this plant is the beautiful markings on the leaves. The Calathea Orbifolia can grow up to 1 meter high and has a strong air-purifying property. The large leaves of the Orbifolia easily convert CO2 into fresh oxygen. A specific characteristic of the Calathea species is that they close their leaves at night. So don't be alarmed if you hear a rustling sound at night. The next morning the plant is simply flaunting its leaves again.
Care
Since the Calathea Orbifolia is originally from the rainforest, it loves a good sip of water. Make sure that the soil around the houseplant is moist at all times so that the plant does not dry out. In nature, these plants grow in the shade of larger trees and plants. This is the reason that the Calathea likes to stand a little darker. Therefore, place the plant in a spot in the shade without direct sunlight.
