Camellia Japonica, also known as the Japanese rose, is a must-have for any garden. The plant is native to China, Japan and Vietnam, where it grows high in the mountains. Camellia Japonica 'Lady Campbell' blooms as early as late winter, between February and April, making it the perfect plant to usher in spring. Its flower buds form in winter and slowly open as spring approaches.
The Camellia Lady Campbell is a beautiful red double-flowered Camellia that blooms profusely. The rose-shaped flowers are about 7-10cm across. This particular Camellia has awesome bud formation, guaranteeing an explosion of color in the early spring garden. Even in winter, the Camellia provides color in the garden, as it retains its foliage year-round. This makes it one of the best bloomers for the Northern European climate. The plant is delivered with a height of 50-60cm (measured including pot).
Care
This Camellia has a compact and upright growing form and is preferably in the shade or half shade, in light acid and well-drained soil preferably rich in humus. In summer it is important to keep the soil around the plant well moist. Eventually the plant will grow into a large shrub, but several plants can also be put together to make one large shrub. Furthermore, the Camellia does not grow quickly, usually about 15-20 cm per year. Therefore, especially in the beginning, it is not necessary to prune the plant regularly. However, it is important to remove spent branches and spent flowers.
