The well-known and wildly popular Areca palm, in the Netherlands also known as Golden palm, originates from the humid tropics of Madagascar. In the wild Areca palms can grow up to 12 meters high. Fortunately, in the home the plant stays a lot smaller. This large plant is No. 1 on the list of best air-purifying plants! The Areca filters impure particles from the air through its leaves. Because of this handy feature, the plant is also very popular in office environments. Besides its practical feature, the Areca is also a beautiful appearance with its narrow, shiny leaves.
Care
The Areca is not a difficult plant to keep happy. It prefers to be in a bright place, but not in direct sunlight. It is important to give the Areca small bits of lukewarm water and occasionally feel if the soil is still moist. Originally, this houseplant grows in a climate with high humidity. Regular spraying of the palm's leaves will keep the Areca palm beautiful.
