Washingtonia Robusta
The Washingtonia Robusta originated in the southern United States and Mexico. The Washingtonia is also known as the "Mexican Fan Palm. This palm got its name from the first president of the United States, George Washington. In California, this palm is also called the petticoat palm because the dead leaves stick around the trunk of the palm tree like a skirt. This palm is ideally suited as a patio palm, garden palm or even as a house palm.

Phoenix Canariensis
The Phoenix Canariensis originates from the Canary Islands, hence its Dutch name 'Canary Date Palm'. There are many different species of the Phoenix, of which the Canariensis is the best known and most common. The Phoenix Canariensis is now found in every tropical climate, but in Spain and Italy these palms are often used as planting material along public roads or planted as ornamental plants. In a tropical climate, this palm can grow up to 18 meters tall with leaves 5 to 6 meters long. The Phoenix is moderately hardy and can have up to about 5 degrees of frost.

Yucca Elephantipes
The Yucca Elephantipes is a true house palm and originated in Central America. Here this palm species is frequently grown in larger nurseries deep in the rainforests. The Yucca gets its name Elephantipes because of its heavy rootstock reminiscent of elephant legs. The leaf of the Yucca Elephantipes is thick and fleshy with a sharp, finely serrated edge.
