This blue, umbelliferous hydrangea has intense fall color. The shrub grows in width rather than height and remains compact. This shrub is useful as a solitary, in a flower border, as well as a tub plant. Summer Glow blooms profusely on 1-year-old wood. The flowers of 'Summer Glow' rise well above the plant, making it beautiful to look at. The hydrangea is very hardy and can tolerate a late night frost well, but the plant is not evergreen so it loses its leaves during the winter. Prune out the spent flowers in the spring. Depending on the pH of the soil, the plant blooms with large blue or pink umbels.
Care
Hydrangeas do not like drought and need a lot of water, especially in summer. It is best to give the hydrangea a lot of water at once rather than a little every now and then. It can be planted from March to mid-October, either in the open ground or in an ornamental pot, although it grows best in the open ground. When planting, keep a distance of 75 cm between plants. Pruning the plant is best done in March, about 30 cm above the ground. The harder you prune back the hydrangea, the larger the flowers will grow.
