Lonicera heckrotti 'American Beauty' is a very decorative honeysuckle with beautiful, strikingly colored flowers. This Lonicera is an excellent climbing plant to enliven a wall or fence. Honeysuckle is known to give off a wonderful scent, especially in the evening. That is no different with American Beauty! The American Beauty blooms all summer long with special purple-red and yellow flowers. In autumn the flowers are followed by small purplish-black berries, which later turn blue-green. The American Beauty is hardy and deciduous and can reach 3 to 4 meters in height.
Care
Lonicera American Beauty prefers a sunny or semi-shaded position. It does well in any well-drained soil and is hardy. The plant is best pruned in early spring. The old and damaged branches can then be pruned to the desired height, which stimulates the growth of new shoots. To make the American Beauty climb as high as possible, you can help the plant by placing a plant rack, for example.
