This beautiful Mahonia Soft Caress is the first Mahonia variety without spines, the leaves are soft and feathery. The plant remains green throughout the year. Starting in August, yellow, sweet-smelling flower spikes appear above the foliage and stand straight up. After flowering, the flowers form blue berries toward winter. This plant deserves a place on the patio or balcony, but it can also be a nice part of a larger display in a border or garden. The Mahonia Soft Caress can survive down to -12°C and is therefore not completely winter hardy. Therefore some protection is needed during cold winters.
Care
The Mahonia Soft Caress likes to stand in a sheltered spot in the sun or semi shade in a sandy, humus-rich soil. The plant is hardy to 12 degrees frost, protect the plant from frost if necessary. The plant can be fertilized each year for richer blooms.
Plant height
When delivered, the plants have a height of 30 to 40cm (measured incl. pot). The plants are delivered in pots with a diameter/diameter of 13cm.
