Chamaedora Elegans
The Chamaedorea Elegans, also known as the Mexican dwarf palm, is native to the rainforest in southern Mexico and Guatemala. It is a species that stays small, hence its name dwarf palm. With a maximum average growth of 50 cm, it is the ideal house palm. It has been a popular house palm for years because it is easy to maintain. It has elegant green leaves that provide a true tropical look.
Yucca Elephantipes
The Yucca Elephantipes is a true house palm and originated in Central America. The Yucca gets its name Elephantipes because of its heavy rootstock that resembles an elephant's leg. The leaf of the Yucca Elephantipes is thick and fleshy with a sharp, finely serrated edge. In Central America, these palms are mainly used as wide fences around coffee plantations. They also provide shade for the coffee plants. The branches of these huge palms are cut off, treated and then shipped around the world. The Yucca is a very easy palm to maintain. The plant does not like a lot of water. Watering once every two weeks is more than enough.
Areca Dypsis Lutescens
The Areca palm has many names, but is best known as the Gold Palm. The Areca is native to the humid tropics of Madagascar, but this plant has nearly all tropical regions. The palm filters polluted particles from the air inhaled through its leaves, giving it an air-purifying effect.
