The Thunbergia Alata, better known as Suzanne with the beautiful eyes, has become even more colorful. Until recently, the Susan was only available in yellow and orange, but breeders have now succeeded in creating varieties in other colors. With its beautiful bright colors, this is a great subject for the terrace or patio. Thunbergia is native to tropical Africa and loves heat. It gets its name from its striking black center, which looks like the pupil of an eye. The flowers are yellow, orange or red. This particularly fast-growing vine blooms throughout the summer until late in the fall.
Care
Thunbergia Alata is usually grown as an annual plant. It is possible to overwinter this perennial in a warm conservatory or greenhouse. Thunbergia Alata is a fantastic tub plant. Use a large flower pot, planter or hanging basket (minimum diameter of 50cm) with holes in the bottom. The long shoots of Thunbergia Alata will look beautiful if they cover a frame, a climbing support or bamboo canes. Place the climbing frame firmly in the pot. Furthermore, the plant should be watered regularly. It also likes to be given nutrition.
