Rhododendron catawbiense purple is a beautiful and popular variety of the Rhododendron family. With its lush evergreen leaves and impressive purple flowers, this shrub is an eye-catcher in any garden. The purple flowers appear in late spring and create a spectacular spectacle of colour. Rhododendron catawbiense purple thrives best in moist, well-drained soil and semi-shaded locations. It can grow to a height of about 2 metres and is relatively low-maintenance. It is a hardy plant that can withstand cold temperatures, making it suitable for different climate zones.
Care
A Rhododendron is a strong shrub that is not demanding. Make sure the soil around the base of the plant does not dry out. Carefully cut off over growing flowers without damaging the new bud underneath. When shoots become too long, they can be safely pruned away. Place the plant in a flower pot, balcony planter or in the ground immediately upon receipt. The Rhododendron likes acidic, humus-rich soil. Place the Rhododendron in partial or full shade. Further, make sure the root ball is always moist.
