Better known as the Peace Lily, these tender plants are famed for their ability to remove pollutants from the air. Spathiphyllum forms a dense clump of large, upright, glossy, evergreen leaves with gently drooping tips that make this a handsome house plant all year round. In spring and early summer, the elegant white spathes are produced, rising on slender stems above the foliage. Its white flowers make the Spathiphyllum much more unique and different from other green house plants. A Spathiphyllum can flower several times a year if it is well cared for. The flowering period lasts up to 10 weeks each time, which makes it an exceptionally long bloomer!
Care
The Spathiphyllum needs to be watered more frequently than other indoor plants. Therefore, it is recommended to water the the plant twice a week in summer, and once a week during the winter. A shortage of water can be recognized when the Spathiphyllum its leaves start hanging. Furthermore, do not place the plant in full sun; it prefers a a more shaded place. Another important aspect is to remove the dead flowers as soon as they have finished blooming, so the plant puts its energy into making new leaves and flowers.
