The Strelitzia Reginea, also known as the Bird of Paradise plant, creates a tropical atmosphere in any room. The plant is originally from South Africa, but can now be found worldwide. The Strelitzia is suitable for both indoors and outdoors, as long as you bring him inside when the temperature drops below 10 degrees. The Bird of Paradise plant is a huge eye-catcher with its large pointed leaves and beautiful orange and blue ornamental flowers. It takes about 5 years for the Strelitzia to flower, and the flowering period is often from May to October. This Strelitzia is already blooming with a minimum of 2 flowers when delivered. After the flowering period, it can take up to 12 months until it blooms again. The adult height of the bird of paradise plant in the house is about 150cm.
Care
The Bird of Paradise plant prefers a position with a lot of light. As a result, the plant does need a lot of water (pay attention to drainage to prevent root rot). Water less during winter, the soil should be allowed to dry out regularly. The plant can also be kept on the terrace in spring and summer. The plant is not winter-hardy so it should be brought inside again in October at the latest.
