With the Fascicularia you bring a special plant into your home. The plant is native to Chile and is one of their most beautiful native plants. The Fascicularia is notable for its narrow, blue-gray leaves with sharp edges. During summer and fall, the inner leaves will turn to red. At the heart of these red leaves, red-blue flowers will grow in August through September. Flowering is quite short, but the special red color of the leaves remains throughout the winter. This plant is suitable for both indoors and outdoors. In summer, it may be outside in a pot, but must be moved inside to overwinter. In solid soil, the Fascicularia is moderately hardy to -10 °C.
Care
The Fascicularia likes to stand in a spot in the sun to semi-shade in a well-drained, humus-rich soil. Water the plant regularly, but make sure in winter that it does not experience excessive moisture. Provide good drainage. Dead leaves can be removed after winter.
